Aboveground Oil Tank Removal Process:

  1. Sign contract with QTS.
  2. QTS will file for township permits.
  3. Once permits are approved, QTS will schedule the project.
  4. QTS will mobilize crew and equipment to remove the oil tank.
  5. The technician will measure the contents of the tank.
  6. QTS will excavate to the top of the tank and then cut a hole so he can insert his pump.
  7. The oil in the tank will be pumped out of the tank.
  8. A bigger hole will then be cut so the technician can properly clean the sludge from the tank.
  9. The oil tank will be wiped down with oil only absorbent pads.
  10. Once the tank is dry it will be cut into pieces and removed from the basement.
  11. The fill and vent lines will be removed from the wall and the hole will be patched with concrete.
  12. Any visible copper lines will also be removed.
  13. After the township inspection, the tank will be removed and scrapped at a local scrap yard.
  14. A closure certificate will be issued by QTS and all proper documents will be sent to the township to close out the permits.

Underground Oil Tank Removal Process:

  1. Sign contract with QTS.  
  2. QTS will file for township permits.
  3. Once permits are approved, QTS will schedule the project.
  4. QTS will mobilize crew and equipment to remove the oil tank.
  5. The technician will measure the contents of the tank.
  6. He will then cut a hole on top of the tank so he can insert his pump.
  7. The contents of the tank will be pumped out.
  8. The technician will enter the tank and wipe it down with oil absorbent pads.
  9. The tank will be removed from the ground and set to the side for the township inspection.
  10. The inspection will happen the same day.
  11. The excavation will be backfilled with certified clean fill.
  12. The oil tank will be scrapped at a local scrap facility.
